About The Believers
Nauvoo is the crucible that molded the foundation for today’s Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. Naamah Carter and some kin left Peterborough, New Hampshire to join thousands seeking a better way, flocking to the Mississippi to build Joseph Smith’s vision of an earthly Zion. They endured family strife and persevered through disease, poverty, spousal deaths: and after Joseph Smith’s martyrdom, power struggles for Church leadership, and fear for their existence. With the exodus imminent, Naamah faced an added challenge – whether to become a plural wife to Brigham Young.
Meticulously researched, The Believers, seen primarily through their eyes, is unique, inspirational at times, and offers differing perspectives. A provocative and gripping narrative that will remain with you, regardless of your faith or beliefs.
