Russell Clark Germond and Two Generations of Ancestors

Picture
Suzanne (Germond) Chandler (aka Suzie or GG [for great grandmother]) with her oldest great granddaughter and namesake, Rya Suzanne Baird are to the left. One day Suzie was talking with Jill. "You know honey, I know so much about the Harts and Chamberlains but I know next to nothing about the Germonds. Do you suppose Al would be willing to do something on the Germonds. I mean if it wouldn't be a bother." To which Jill replied, "Don't be silly, he loves doing that stuff."

So I started my research and was quite proud of what I quickly found. Then Suzie asked some questions and I did more. On the second pass, I typed  "Germond" as a keyword under Catalog on Familysearch.org. Up pops, "The History of the Germond family in America" by Henry Shelden Germond, who is Suzie's great uncle.. Boy did I feel like a rookie. I should have checked early in my research to determine if any published genealogies existed. A digitized version of the "Germonds in America" was available on-line, which I printed out. Suzie's final report contained a copy of "Germonds in America" along with my relatively modest effort, her ahnentafel and pedigree chart produced by my software, updated with Germond information and spiral bound - a veritable tome. She was so impressed that she wondered when I might do something similar for the Chandlers

If you have Germond blood I would encourage you to look through Henry Shelden Germond's work, published in the early 1900s. For my modest effort, click on the link /uploads/1/9/2/5/19256439/germonds_nov_30_in_template.pdf
